Kunho Cho Chairman & CEO

Career

  • Mr. Cho is the Chairman and CEO of PineStreet Group and is currently also a Senior Advisor to Apollo Global Management
  • Prior to founding PSG, Mr. Cho was the Chairman and CEO of Asia Pacific for Millennium Management (global investment management firm with c. US$30 billion AUM). During his leadership Millennium Asia consistently achieved 15%+ annual returns with 2.0+ sharpe ratio
  • Prior to joining Millennium, Mr. Cho was the global Vice Chairman and CEO of Lehman Brothers’ Investment Banking Division Asia Pacific
  • Mr. Cho has extensive experience advising Korean financial institutions and has led a wide range of transactions including the arrangement of Korea’s largest non-performing loan purchase of KRW8 trillion+ (Woori Financial Group’s entire NPL portfolio and c. 30% of Korean banks’ total NPLs) through a partnership with Woori Financial Group, a highly successful joint venture between a foreign and local financial institution through which Woori F&I was established (currently Daishin F&I). Mr. Cho has also advised major non-FIG Korean corporations on various M&A and restructuring transactions
  • Mr. Cho has advised on over US$65 billion worth of China M&A transactions including Chinalco’s acquisition of Rio Tinto which was selected as Finance Asia’s top China deal of the year and on over US$250 billion China ECM/DCM transactions including CITIC Bank and ICBC International’s IPO which was the world’s largest IPO at the time
  • Mr. Cho received his BA in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he has served as a member of the Board of Overseers since 2002 and received his MBA from Columbia Business School
