Educational Background and Profile

PineStreet Assets was founded by Mr. Kunho Cho in 2015.  Mr. Cho has more than 30 years of experience in global financial markets. Prior to founding the firm he was chairman and CEO of Millennium Management Asia Pacific, a leading global alternative investment firm. Mr. Cho held various positions at Lehman Brothers for 20 years. He was the first Asia based global vice chairman of the main operating company, Lehman Brothers Inc. He was CEO of the firm's Asia Pacific investment banking division and prior to that he founded the Lehman Brothers Korea office in 1990 and ran its Korean operations until 2000.

Mr. Cho graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA degree in biophysics and received an MBA from Columbia University.

He serves as a member of the board of overseers (emeritus) at the University of Pennsylvania. He also serves on  committees of various philanthropic organizations for cultural preservation, hospitals and programs promoting reading initiatives for children.

Mr. Sung-soo Ra has been President & CEO of PineStreet Assets since July 2019. Prior to joining Pinestreet Assets, he served as the head of the Infrastructure Investment & Loan Headquarters and the Infrastructure Finance Advisory Headquarters at Mirae Asset Maps Asset Management and Mirae Asset Consulting of Mirae Asset Financial Group, where he accomplished a number of domestic and international infrastructure investments. He has successfully carried out various major infrastructure projects such as the Seobu Expressway, Seobu Inland Expressway, and Seoul-Chuncheon Expressway projects in South Korea as well as infrastructure projects in Europe, the U.S., and Australia, including Victoria desalination in Australia, East Link in Australia, and 19 PPP projects in the UK. In addition, he has participated in various infrastructure funds as a beneficiary based on his relationship with leading overseas GPs. Prior to working for Mirae Asset Financial Group, he worked for the investment finance department of KB Kookmin Bank as a senior manager in charge of financial arrangement institutions, financial advisory, and fund establishment.

He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sogang University and a master's degree from KDI Graduate School of Public Policy and Management.

After working for the Korean Teachers' Credit Union for 26 years, Vice Chairman Kook Jeom-ho participated as a founding member when PineStreet Assets was established. As a stock fund manager while working for the Korea Teachers’ Credit Union, he was selected as a fund master by the Seoul Newspaper. Also, as a first-generation leader of alternative investments, he invested in numerous infrastructure assets to establish a high-yielding foundation for initial investment. He has contributed a key role as a market leader in a new market, including M&A, PF, REITs investment, etc. A major milestone in his career was serving as the director of the headquarters of K Insurance and co-representative of the Tube Investment Advisory.

He majored in accounting at Sungkyunkwan University and received a bachelor's degree.

Park Woong / Executive Vice President

Vice President Park Woong joined PineStreet Assets in December 2015. As a compliance officer and risk management officer, he is in charge of the company's overall internal control and overall investment-related risk management. He worked for Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance for about 27 years, and accumulated experience in investment and management of various investment assets by serving as the head of the Corporate Finance Team and the head of the Asset Management Planning Team at the Asset Management Headquarters of Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance. He also served as the head of Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance Risk Management Headquarters, and simultaneously served as the chairman of the company's Investment Deliberation Committee, performing overall review and risk management related to the company's major investments.

He majored in political science and diplomacy at Yonsei University and received a master's degree in political science from the Yonsei Graduate School.

Sunkyung Lee joined PineStreet Group in 2013 and moved to PineStreet Asset Management in 2019. Ms. Lee is in charge of the corporate finance division of PineStreet Asset Management. The corporate finance division is dedicated to provide high quality offshore investment opportunities to Korean institutional investors, covering both indirect (offshore funds investments) and direct investments. It is offering a comprehensive suite of services to investors from initial investment review to post-investment management. Prior to joining PineStreet in 2013, Ms. Lee worked as a senior associate in the investment banking division of UBS and Credit Suisse, primarily focusing on Korean corporates’ outbound M&A and international offerings of debt and equity. Since 2010, Ms. Lee worked at UBS’s Hong Kong office, covering Asian financial institutions’ M&A and capital markets activities.

Ms. Lee received B.A in Economics and Business Administration from Seoul National University.

Choi YeonJun / Executive Director

Adam Choi is an Executive Director at Alternative Investment Division in PineStreet. Prior to his current position, Mr. Choi was an Infrastructure Investment Portfolio Manager at Alternative Investment Division in Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance and committed to more than 20 infrastructure projects and funds in both domestic and global markets. Prior to that, Mr. Choi was a global infrastructure project developer at Daewoo Engineering & Construction.

He graduated from Hongik University with a BA degree in Civil Engineering and received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Kwak HyunSuk / Executive Director

Kwak HyunSuk / Executive Director

Hyun joined PineStreet in July 2019 and he is focused on the origination and execution of various overseas infrastructure transactions. Prior to PineStreet, he was at Hanwha Life and Hanwha Asset Management where he was as senior manager responsible for acquisition and management of various overseas Infrastructure transactions including PPP, regulated utilities, transports, and renewables located in Europe, UK, US and etc. Prior to Hanwha, he was at KEPCO (Korea Electricity Power Corporation), the largest utility company in Korea, where he was responsible for project development and financing for various overseas power projects located in EMEA and Latin America. His experience also includes at Ernst and Young Korea where he completed various feasibility study and valuation advisory for overseas infrastructure assets.

Mr. Kwak graduated from University of Hawaii with a BBA and MAcc degrees (Master of Accounting) in Accounting.

You JiSung / Director

You JiSung / Director

Director You Ji-sung joined PineStreet Assets in 2021 and is in charge of global GP sourcing, investment execution and follow-up management in the corporate finance division. Prior to joining PSA, she served at the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives from 2019, discovered domestic and foreign acquisition financing and equity investment opportunities, and executed investments through careful due diligence. From March 2007 to 2019, while serving at the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, she was in charge of alternative investments, stock and structured bond investments, risk management and securities accounting system introduction projects, and performed tasks related to the overall financial market.

She majored in business administration and Spanish at Chonbuk National University.

Um EungSik / Director

Director Um Eung-sik joined PineStreet Assets in 2019 and is in charge of setting up and managing projects and overseas indirect funds. Prior to joining PSA, he served as a senior manager at Mirae Asset Securities and was in charge of overseas infrastructure investment. Previously, he worked for Mitsui Sumitomo Bank (SMBC) Structured Finance Group, Daelim Industrial (Energy) Overseas Business Development Office, Samsung Securities Corporate Finance Division, etc., and performed businesses such as overseas infrastructure project development and overseas infrastructure PF financial advisory.

He majored in electrical engineering at Seoul National University.

Director Yoon Hyon-woo joined PSA in August 2022. He has more than 13 years of experience with domestic strategic investors (SI) and financial investors (FI). Prior to joining PSA, he worked at NH Investment & Securities for over three and a half years, completing approximately USD 6 billion of investments and underwriting for infrastructure/corporate finance deals. Prior to NH Investment & Securities, he worked at Daewoo International (currently POSCO International) for over eight and a half years, where he was in charge of overseas investment (M&A) business, and executed 13 deals worth approximately USD 0.5 billion.

He majored in biochemistry at Yonsei University and became a CFA Charter Holder in 2018.

Hong DuPyo / General Manager

Hong DuPyo / General Manager

From February 2022, General Manager Hong Du-pyo has been in charge of PSA's operation support. In 2006, he joined AITAS, a general administration management company, and performed fund accounting and system development. He oversaw various financial instruments, including domestic and international traditional assets, real estate, and special assets, and management companies for about eleven years, including four years of support business at NPS. Afterwards, he led the management support team at Hi Asset Management (former DGB Asset Management) for about for years and established a smooth operation work system based on his experience in general administration management and beneficiaries.

Mr. Hong majored in business administration and economics at Sogang University.

Ock DongGon / General Manager

Ock DongGon / General Manager

Donggon Ock is a General Manager at Alternative Investment Division in PineStreet. He joined PineStreet in 2019 and executed various alternative investments including infrastructure projects and fund of fund investments. Prior to joining PSA, he worked at Korea Ratings as a financial advisor for domestic and overseas alternative investment projects.

Mr. Ock majored in business administration at Seoul National University.
